Treasure Hunt Rules & Info

Teams & Participation

  • Participants can compete solo or in teams of up to 5 people.

  • Teams with young children who need to be supervised must have at least one person on the team who is responsible for supervision.

  • Each team member will receive a code collection form, a pen, a printed or digital map outlining the treasure hunt boundaries, and poop collection bags (optional).

Scoring System

  • Golden Eggs – 20 golden eggs are hidden, each worth 5 points. Each egg also contains a surprise inside! If you find an egg, it’s your to keep.

  • Secret Codes – 100 codes are scattered throughout the area, on trees. Codes must be recorded with pen on the provided collection form. Keep the codes where they are on the trees. Each recorded code is worth 1 point.

  • Dog Poop Collection – Each dog poop collected is worth 1 point. Only properly bagged and disposed-of poop will count for points - dog poop and carrying bags will be provided. Participation in this part is optional.

Playing Fair and in Good Faith

  • This is a fun, community-friendly event, so please play in good faith.

  • No tampering with or hiding codes if you find them. Other participants will be looking for the same codes.

  • Participants who collect dog poop will keep track of the number of individual poops they collect and report their total to the event organizers at the end. This relies on honesty and good faith. If a poop is clearly one poop but it's in two pieces, count it as one. If there are two clear individuals poops next to each other, count that as two poops.

  • Event organizers will dispose of all collected poops at the end of the event.

  • Teams must respect other participants and the environment.

Boundaries & Safety

  • The treasure hunt takes place within the marked boundaries on the Tin Can Hill map.

  • Participants should stay within the designated area and be mindful of wildlife and other park users.

There will be prizes for the following:

  • Ultimate Champion - The team with the most points at the end.

  • Golden Egg Champion – The team who finds the most golden eggs.
